    Summer is coming to an end in the UK. You can tell because we’re ramping up towards motorcycle shows and new models. And the end-of-season special offers are all appearing. For example, cheaper Ducati finance from £99 per month for a Supersport. And similar Autumn offers on the 2017 Ducati Scrambler, including the Cafe Racer and Desert Sled models, plus Ducati Performance vouchers with new Multistradas.

    So, the Ducati Supersport is a pretty comfortable and usable sportsbike, with a 937cc, 113bhp V-twin engine returned from Hypermotard/Multistrada. And it’s priced competitively, with Marzocchi forks, a Sachs rear shock, Brembo calipers with ABS and lots more making it something you could use for commuting or longer trips as well as track days. All of that comes in at £11,635. But it sounds even more reasonable when you could be paying £99 per month.

    That does come with some Ducati TriOptions financing rules. You’d need to pay a £2,634.40 deposit, pay £99 per month, and then cough up an optional final repayment of £6,176 to own the motorcycle outright. Which means you’d end up paying £12,374.40 after 37 months at 3.11% APR on the repayments, and 3.2% on the final lump sum.

    Ready for a load more numbers? The 2017 Ducati Scrambler range are also part of the 3% TriOptions deals, including the newest Desert Sled and Cafe Racer models, for £99 per month.

    As an example, the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled would require a £1896.46 deposit. Followed by 37 months of £99 (2.91% interest), and a final lump sum of £5,013 (3% APR). It makes the total cost of a new Scrambler go from £9,535 to £10,113.46, but does mean you aren’t paying it all up front.

    The various Scrambler versions share the same 803cc engine. But with different accessories and style for whichever look and purpose you prefer. The Desert Sled is obviously intended as more of an urban off-roader, capable of a bit of dirt and gravel. While the 1960’s inspired Cafe Racer will be at home on Tarmac. Probably parked up outside a coffee shop in Shoreditch or Soho.

  • 2017 Peugeot Django 125i Switches to EasyMotion

    The 2017 Peugeot Django 125i continues to offer a vintage look with modern technology. And for this year, that tech will include the new fuel injected 125cc EasyMotion engine and Syncho Braking Concept (SBC) linked brakes.

    Most new Peugeot scooters are being moved across to the new fuel-injected motor to meet Euro4 emission rules. For example, the horribly-named Tweet also has the same engine. In the case of the retro-style 2017 Peugeot Django 125i, that means around 100 miles per gallon. Under World Motorcycle Test Cycle Conditions, it managed 104mpg. That’s helped by the engine switch not having much effect on the 135kg weight, or the 7.5kW (10hp) output.

    The 2017 Peugeot Django 125i also shares the SBC braking system with a number of other scooters from the French manufacturer, including the racier Speedfight4 125. When you apply the left lever, you activate the SBC, which distributes the braking between the 200mm front disc brake and 170mm rear disc. Which should slow you down quickly, without locking the wheels. Or having the front dive like a Premier League footballer.

    If you need to stop any more quickly, then add the right-hand lever for extra power. Obviously there’s no need for a clutch lever with an automatic scooter.

    Although those are two sizeable changes under the surface, the Django has generally stayed pretty unchanged from the outside. You still get a look inspired by the vintage 1950s Peuegot S55. And a mix that incluces an analogue speedo with a digital displayer, for example. Or retro chrome trim with LED indicators, rear and signature lights around the front grille. The under seat lockable storage bay will easily store your retro open-face helmet, but the glove compartment has a 12v socket for your smartphone.

  • What drives British motorists mad?

    New survey shows what really drives British motorists mad

    Driving, it can be the best of times or the worst of times, but in this modern age of congestion and bad drivers it is becoming more frustrating by the day. A new survey by YourParkingSpace into the driving habits of the British has revealed just what drives motorists mad.

    The results showed that people not indicating annoyed British motorists the most, while using a mobile phone and bad parking both featured highly on the list. The survey polled 1,028 drivers throughout the UK asking ‘What annoys you the most about being a car driver in the UK?’ the full results are below:

    1. People not indicating (72%)
    2. Talking on a mobile phone (71%)
    3. Bad parking (56%)
    4. Traffic Jams (52%)
    5. Slow drivers (42%)
    6. Not being able to find a parking space (40%)

    The data also showed that men were more likely to get annoyed by slow drivers, but both sexes found not indicating and talking on a mobile phone to be equally as irritating. Furthermore 40% of drivers polled stated that trying to find a suitable parking space was frustrating.

    YourParkingSpace wanted to find out more about the issue of parking, so asked those participants who had chosen parking as their most frustrating option how they felt about parking charges in their local area.

    48% stated that they thought that parking charges were too expensive, while 29% said that they were reasonable in their local area.

    The data show that parking fee opinions varied greatly depending on location with over 40% of drivers in England stating that parking was too expensive, while only 29% of Scottish drivers felt the same. Coincidentally Scotland seemed to have the highest number of free parking spaces with a third of drivers from north of the border indicating they can park for free.

    Managing Director of YourParkingSpace, Harrison Woods, commented on the survey:

    “It is interesting to look into the psyche of the British driver, to see what they like and what irritates them about driving. People not indicating and using mobile phones when driving are not only irritating to other road users, but also very dangerous, causing accidents and damage as well as breaking the law. “

    He added:

    “One thing that didn’t surprise us was the fact that 40% of motorists become frustrated when searching for parking spaces and that a large proportion of those questioned felt that parking charges were too expensive. Parking spaces have become a premium commodity in recent years, especially in major cities, and the fact that parking spaces have been getting smaller and cars getting bigger has just exacerbated the situation.”
