Audi drops an A6 Avant e-tron shrouded in darkness – will we see it at the New York Auto Show in April?

Audi is at it again, teasing an A6 Avant e-tron. We’ve known about the sedan version of the A6 e-tron Concept for almost a year. As the electric version of its A6 sedan, the e-tron is expected to launch later this year and go on sale next to the e-tron and Q4 e-tron SUVs. We’ve also heard rumors of an Avant version in the past. But today is the first time we’ve seen a picture of the car.

This morning, Audi posted a photo of the A6 Avant e-tron on social media. Shrouded in the dark, the pictures reveal the distinctive wagon profile. Audi stated it’s not available as a production vehicle but encourages people to learn more on their website. Photos on social media were also followed by the teaser, “Prepare for something dynamic. Watch this space for the reveal of the new, fully electric Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept.”

Kicking off on April 15, the venue is the ideal place for a big reveal. Audi also revealed the A6 e-tron last year in April, so the timing is consistent.

Audi has not released any info for the A6 Avant e-tron. But if the sedan is any indicator, the Avant will share the same specs. Audi claims the 100-kWh battery pack provides 435 miles of range. DC fast charging capability is standard, providing 80 percent of battery capacity in 25 minutes. Dual electric motors deliver 470 horsepower routed through with Quattro all-wheel drive. Like other e-tron vehicles, expect a full complement of luxury and entertainment features, and performance that should smoke a Tesla. And if the  Audi Q4 e-tron as a baseline, we expect the A6 Avant will showcase premium features with Audi’s signature style.
