Must Watch: The Heartwarming Journey of Reviving a Wrecked Audi S3

wrecked Audi S3

YouTuber Mat Armstrong rebuilds a wrecked Audi S3 and demonstrates that you don’t have to be an experienced mechanic to go out there and find a great deal on your favorite performance machine.

In one of his recent videos, Mat Armstrong chronicles the completion of an elaborate revival of a wrecked Audi S3. It is satisfying to see a written-off performance machine get a new lease on life. What’s even more heartwarming is that Mat is restoring the S3 for his friend Liam who had a run of bad luck with his cars in the past.

Another fun fact for our readers, Mat is not a mechanic but an enthusiast who tries to learn as he goes along. Luckily for Mat, the S3 shares its parts with Golf R, which he is familiar with. So, I reckon this series can motivate even the most skeptical builders amongst us to go out there and find a great deal. The damage to the car was quite extensive.

Safe to say, Mat had his work cut out for him seeing how the rebuild took almost three months to complete. Mat decided against starting the engine because of a crack in the inlet manifold. The YouTuber suspected that there might be plastic in the inlet manifold, which could destroy the engine. There was also no damage to the car’s suspension.

Mat also had to replace the battery of the wrecked S3 before repairing the front chassis damage, which bent the chassis at the front.

He also installs a new front-end that comes complete with a new intercooler. In the series, Mat also shares the motivation behind this S3 project. “This YouTube stuff has basically allowed me to live my dream life rebuilding, modifying, and driving cars that I never thought I’d ever own, and now I feel like it’s time to rebuild cars not just for my own pleasure, shares Mat.
He further adds,” The S3 has come such a long way in such a short amount of time. You only have to take a look at what it first looked like when I first bought it to what it looks like now.”

With the used car prices skyrocketing right now, restoring/repairing these modern classics is sustainable and a necessity of the time. Lastly, this restoration series is one of the most engaging and entertaining build stories on YouTube. Mat doesn’t dilly-dally and covers a big chunk of the project in every video without wasting any time, which will appeal to every gearhead.

2022 Audi RS3 Dominates RS6 Avant in Drag Race

2022 Audi RS3

Youtuber and professional racing driver Archie Hamilton’s 2022 Audi RS3 drag races a 591 HP RS6 Avant and the results are surprising, to say the least.

Even though it is quickly adopting electrification, the Ingolstadt brand still offers many exciting IC models. In one of his recent videos, professional racing driver Archie Hamilton drag races an Audi RS6 Avant in his all-new 2022 Audi RS3. In the video available on his official YouTube channel, Hamilton describes the track condition as slippery, making the drag race all the more enjoyable. It demonstrates how well Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system can perform.

Except for its aggressive body kit and Vossen rims, the Audi RS6 seen in the video is mostly stock. It’s worth noting that with these add-ons, the RS6 is now much heavier than the standard car. Furthermore, Hamilton’s 2022 RS3, which has only covered 280 miles, retains its stock setup. The 2.5-liter TFSI five-cylinder motor in the new RS3 only produces 394 HP of power and 354 lb-ft of torque.

The power difference should give the RS6 a competitive edge in this drag race. The powerplant of an RS6 produces 591 horsepower and 590 LB ft of torque in its factory tune. The wagon only takes 3.5 seconds to hit the 60 MPH mark, whereas the saloon needs 3.9 seconds to make the same run.

Hamilton reckons that his sporty 2022 Audi RS3 sedan might outrun the RS6 with its new launch control.

“We are on a damp day, and on the launch, it (RS3) goes straight on the RS6, and that was just interesting, and then the RS6 is catching you, but this is no joke. This (RS3) is no joke, this is half the money, well it’s not is it with the overs, but at least it’s half the money,” explains Hamilton.

Surprisingly enough, the RS3 won the first race even though Hamilton missed a gear. The sedan also won the next two races, which only shows that it’s time for Audi to give RS6 more power. What is staggering is that the RS3 also pulled away from the Super wagon during the final rolling race, which was unexpected.

“I’m completely lost for words, I think, that has just been one of, we’ve done a lot of drag races here, a lot, and sometimes, one just throws a complete surprise at you, and that is that’s got to be the biggest generally the biggest,” said Hamilton.

The super hatch flaunts a vibrant Python Yellow paint job offset by green MTM decals.

As a result, the Audi S3 MKM Club Sport only takes 3.2 seconds to accelerate from a complete standstill to 62 MPH. A 7-speed S-tronic gearbox sends power to all four corners. Thanks to its AWD setup, we get to see the car drive over the snowy roads of the Austrian Alps with ease.

Shots of beautiful icy landscapes greet us throughout the video as the brand new hot hatch dominates the Austrian alps. The S3 Sportback MTM Club Sport rides on a set of MTM Bimoto 19-inch wheels which flaunt a black finish. The tuning house also updates the bodywork of the super hatch.

A prominent carbon fiber spoiler dominates the front end, and at the rear, we find a large wing which is also a carbon fiber component. The hatchback also ditches its stock seats for a set of Recaro Podium seats. MTM also managed to fit in a roll cage with more space available inside the cabin.
